Starting from Identifying the Facial Shape and Suitable Brow Arc

Round:

Round

If you have a circular face with no visible angle, a rounded chin and prominent fullness below the cheekbones, facial length & width of the almost same size, along with a wide hairline then you have a round face shape.

Examples: Selena Gomez and Preity Zinta

Eyebrow shape: The trick is to make your face appear longer to balance the shape.  A brow shape with a centre-high arc, i.e., a high peak just above the browbone complements this face shape.

Avoid straight flat and round brows because they will lead to making the face appear shorter and rounder.

Oval:

Oval

If your face length is long and width is narrow with a smooth round hairline, along with defined cheekbones and a narrow jawline, almost forming a shape of an egg then you have an oval face shape.

Examples: Rihanna and Emma Watson

Eyebrow shape: The trick is to add some width to the face.  For a balanced structure of the face a soft-angled brow pair well with the oval shape. Experts say an oval shape face can pull off almost every brow shape if they are done well.

Avoid raising the arc too high, it will exaggerate the length of the face

Heart:

If you have a pointed chin (like the tip of the heart), wide hairline and cheekbone is the widest part of the face; a shape more like an inverted triangle, then you have a heart face shape.

Examples: Deepika Padukone and Aditi Roy Hydari

Eyebrow shape: To balance out the long chin, opt for a controlled soft arc brow to give symmetry to the face.

Diamond:

Diamond

If you have a pointy small chin, narrow hairline and forehead, and a cheekbone wide and high, then you have a diamond face shape.

Example: Jennifer Lopez and Shilpa Shetty

Eyebrow Shape: To balance out the face and make it look appear a little shorter a curved or a round brow shape goes perfectly well.

Avoid a sharp angular shape, because that will make the face appear dramatically wide.

Rectangle:

Rectangle

If you have angular edges and your jaw, cheeks and forehead are of the same width with a slightly curved chin then you have a rectangle face shape.

Example: Katrina Kaif

Eyebrow shape: Straight brows with soft curve ends will give a flattering look to the angulated face shape.

Avoid peaked brows they will elongate the face making it look unnecessarily long.

Square:

if you have a forehead, cheekbones, and jawline that are of the same width. You also have a jawline and forehead that are wider and more pronounced, with the chin less pointy, and then you have a square shape.

Example: Zendaya, Anushka Sharma

Eyebrow shape: To balance the strong and elongated shape, a subtle rise above the brow bone with a longer tail, will make the square shape stand out.

Avoid round shapes and pointy brows, it disturbs the frame of the face.

Now, that you have learnt the basics of identifying the face shape and the eyebrows that go well with the respective shape, it’s time to get to the climax, shaping them perfectly. Let us answer the most googled question:

How to shape eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil?

Eyebrows are often overlooked while doing makeup because we are scared of messing it up. Not having enough volume, having scanty brows or having excessively bushy brows are high maintenance. We know, the struggle is real, which is why we are here to give a quick guide on creating a defined eyebrow using SÉRY Definition Micro Brow Pencil, which is infused with Vitamin E and Argan Oil that helps to stimulate the growth of eyebrows while keeping it soft and moisturised, at the same time.

Step 1:  Always start by combing your brows with a spoolie brush so that you can map the shape accordingly.

Step 2: To understand where your brows should begin, use this trick. Place your waterproof brow pencil vertically on the inner or starting point of the brow and mark it. Doing this helps in creating a proportionate frame for the face and eyes.

Pro tip: Mark a point “closer to the bridge” if your eyes are wide-set to make them appear smaller. If you have close-set eyes, move “closer to the inner corner of the eye” to make your eyes appear bigger.

Step 3: After that, position the pencil on your nose’s tip and aim it diagonally in the direction of your eye. Find your ideal arch mark by marking the point where it crosses the iris or the centre of your eye.

Step 4: To mark the end point of your brow, place the brow pencil diagonally from the outside corner of your nostril angling it to the outer corner of your eyes – the straight point of intersection is the tail or the end point of your brows. Ensure not to extend the point, because the long tail can make the eyes look out of frame.

Step 5: Connect the dots and fill the spare space in the flicking motion with a black eyebrow pencil and comb it again with the spooile brush to blend it evenly.

Voila! Your perfect brow shape is ready!

Creating perfectly shaped brows will become easier once you identify your face shape and the brow angle that goes well with it.
